Port of Kashima

One of the world's best shipping canal-berth ports, it is attracting as a new distribution center for the metropolitan area. Kashima Port, which is now less than one hour away from metropolitan, has played an extremely important role as a coastal industrial zone in transporting raw materials and products. On the other hand, in recent years the Kashima Port has increased its share of traffic through corporate restructuring, efficiency measures and the review of distribution systems. Kashima Port will continue to attract attention as a distribution hub for the metropolitan area while providing regular container services to Fuzhou and Ningbo. The public North Wharf being developed so as to accommodate more ships and cargoes. This industrial port is now becoming a commercial port as well.

Constructing on public piers, it's designed to handle the increasing volume of general cargo. Kashima port is functioning property as a commercial port, based on the industrial port at the Kashima heavy and chemical industrial complex. Public terminals cargo is continuing to increase as a result of not only the Higashi-Kanto Expressway (Mito Line), but also the development of other highways. Kashima port has 2 public wharfs. The South Wharf has 8 quays with water depth of 7.5 or 10 meters. The North Wharf, now constructing, is partly completed, in autumn 2002, the first berth of 10 meters in depth along with land behind the quay wall.
