GENERAL INFORMATION
PMO-Tagbilaran is composed of a Baseport and four (4) Terminal Ports. Forty eight (48) municipalities compose the province with Tagbilaran city as the capital and provincial center of the commercial activities. The province has also 75 islands and islets of which most are inhabited.
TRADE AND COMMERCE
Tagbilaran City is the capital and commercial center of Bohol,. It has a population of 56, 000 out of Bohol’s total 0.9 million. It is approximately 750 kms. South of Manila and 100 kms. South of Mactan Island. Tagbilaran is 41 nautical miles from Cebu City, approximately 4 hours sailing time on board conventional passenger-cargo vessels and 1.5 hours on board fastcraft vessels. The whole Bohol is provided with a coastal and transcentral road network which makes travel around and across the island possible.

Baseport Tagbilaran is the biggest and main port of Bohol It is situated right at the heart of Tagbilaran City, specifically at the narrow channel formed by a cove on the southwestern end of Maribojoc Bay and Panglao Island, the latter providing a natural barrier that protects the port from adverse weather.

Currents : 1.0 knot Waves : not open to wave action Sediment Movement Extensively exposed on SW coast is the Pliocene to Pleistone rocks consisting of marine and terrestrial sediments associated with extensive reef limestone and sporadic terrace gravel deposits. Seismic Conditions A high angle fault is present East of Tagbilaran trending NW controlled at its NE end by another high angle fault striking N-NE. Topography General rolling and hilly plains Soil Condition Elongated outcrops of upper miocene rocks composed largely of marine clastics associated with silty limestone. Navigational Approach There is a dredged channel through the reefs from the entrance of the harbor to the anchorage area off the pier. The anchorage area has a depth of 25.0 meters. The entrance channel has a controlling depth of 6.0 meters and is marked by Tagbilaran light on the north side. The channel is also marked by light beacons. Vessels entering the harbor should stand in the mid-channel course before approaching the Tagbilaran light and should not pass close westward of the beacon on the southern side as shoal water extends southwestward from it.
