American Airlines is expanding its New York service into Europe by launching two new routes early next year to Milan and Barcelona from JFK International Airport (JFK), as well as adding a second daily roundtrip between JFK and London's Stansted Airport.

From May 1, 2008, American will begin flying to Milan and Barcelona, and on April 7, American will launch a second daily flight to Stansted Airport in London. American's initial new service between JFK and Stansted is scheduled to begin October 28.

American will fly all three new routes with Boeing 767-300 aircraft. "Adding Barcelona, Milan and London Stansted will greatly benefit our New York customers as well as those who connect to these flights from elsewhere," said Dan Garton, American's executive vice president of marketing.

The tentative schedules and times for American's three new routes from JFK are as follows: JFK-London Stansted (STN) service will start on April 7. Flight 128 is expected to depart from JFK at 2230 hrs and arrive in London at 1030 hrs the next day (local time). The return flight 129 will depart on April 8 at 1635 hrs from Stansted and land at JFK at 1930 hrs the same day.

The JFK-Barcelona flight 152 is expected to depart from JFK at 1905 hrs on May 1 and land in Spain the following day at 0910 hrs. Return flight 151 will take off on May 2 from Barcelona at 1130 hrs and land the same day at JFK at 1405 hrs.

The JFK-Milan flight 198 will also depart on May 1 from JFK at 1745 hrs and land in Milan the next day at 0810 hrs. The return flight 199 takes off on May 2 from Milan at 1035 hrs and lands at JFK at 1340 hrs the same day.

The airline is also stepping ups its service from New York LaGuardia to Minneapolis/St. Paul and from JFK to Las Vegas from September 5. The same day, sister airline American Eagle begins service from LaGuardia to Louisville.
