Lufthansa has reiterated its reje ction of a complete ban of night flights at the Frankfurt airport.

"We can't live with a complete ban of night flights (in Frankfurt)," chief executive Wolfgang Mayrhuber said.

He said it was inconceivable that no air planes will be allowed to land or take off from the Frankfurt airport at night.

A complete ban of night flights wouldn't only affect Lufthansa but also Germany's economy, Mayrhuber said.

He added that Lufthansa, Germany's largest airline, is examining ways to achieve its interest in accord with residents of the Frankfurt airport region.

Frankfurt airport operator Fraport, the state of Hesse, the city of Frankfurt and several municipalities neighbouring the airport reached a compromise on the building of a new runway on the condition that residents will be protected from air traffic noise by a night-flight ban.
