Arthur D. Little and the site ATW has a comprehensive analysis of passenger traffic trends by region and type of airport. On China it has:

China’s airports handled some 197.5 million passengers last year, or about one-fifth of the Asian region’s total. Over the past two years, China added some 60 million passengers. Its enormous traffic growth is owing mainly to domestic travel.
China’s national carriers have taken the most advantage of liberalization and have been driving the growth of the main hubs. ‘Big three’ China Southern Airlines, China Eastern Airlines and Air China were responsible for 57% of the seat capacity increase at mainland China’s eight largest airports between April 2004 and April 2007. Other local carriers added 28% and foreign airlines only 15%.
In 2005, Beijing ranked 14th on a list of the world’s largest airports.

Last year, PEK, the official designation for Beijing, moved into the top 10. It is the country’s largest airport, with 48 million passengers last year.
