GERMAN GSSA Group Transnautic Aero has opened up an operation in Poland.

Transnautic Aero Poland is based close to the cargo community at Warsaw Airport, the heart of the Polish air cargo industry, and the office is headed up by newly-appointed managing director Waldemar Rybak, a former LOT Cargo commercial manager.

"Poland is already quite well served by international airlines and low-cost operators," Mr Rybak said. "Frequencies are being increased, and new services are being introduced to regional airports such as Krakow, Gdansk and Szczecin. With our strong economy and growing exports and imports, airfreight is becoming steadily more important. This has been identified by a number of carriers, and we expect additional airlines to start operations here within the next few months. It means we have considerable potential to win new airline business."

Transnautic Aero Poland has already won its first GSSA contract to represent fast-growing Norwegian Air Shuttle, which operates twenty-six B737 flights a week from three Polish airports to 13 destinations, and onward connections via its Oslo hub to over 40 further destinations throughout Europe, the Nordic countries, Russia and Africa.

Transnautic Poland is also representing all but one of its German parent's contracts on an offline basis, and is confident of adding more airline principals of its own soon.

Transnautic Aero Group managing director Mike Staeck said: "Poland is a logical expansion for Transnautic. There are many synergies between Germany and Poland, and Germany is ideally-placed to provide additional flown capacity for Polish importers and exporters, until the number of direct air services into Poland increases."
