AP MOLLER-MAERSK, will receive one of the six 7,000-TEU ships from Odense Steel Shipyard that will join Maersk Line's worldwide liner service, it was announced recently.
Kuehn & Nagel CEO Reinhard Lange and his wife honoured AP Moller-Maersk and the Odense Steel Shipyard by naming the vessel Maren Maersk.
The vessel was built to meet the high demands of global shipping by using efficient, safe and environmentally friendly processes. It uses a waste heat recovery system to optimise the use of energy produced and is run by an automated computer system to ensure optimal operation, according to a company statement.
The newbuilding minimises fuel consumption and CO2 emissions through its the 12-cylinder Wartsila RT-flex diesel engine and its engine which develops 84,000 BHP.
The Maren Marsk will be commanded by Andras Samson Gregersen with Johnny Hovmann Jensen as chief engineer.
