EUROPE Container Terminals (ECT), a member of the Hutchison Port Holdings (HPH) group, has announced the official opening of its Euromax Terminal located at Rotterdam's Maasvlakte on the North Sea.
The Euromax Terminal covers a total area measuring 84 hectares and features a 1,500-metre-long quay. It opens with an annual container handling capacity of 2.3 million TEU.
The terminal has been developed through a joint venture established by global container shipping lines Cosco, Hanjin, Yang Ming and K Line.
At the same time, ECT also opened its 840-metre Delta Barge Feeder (DBF) terminal, which offers feeder and barge operators their owndedicated terminal within the ECT Delta Terminal at the tip of the Deltapeninsula.
The DBF terminal has an annual handling capacity of 700,000 barge and feeder moves. It also offers additional capacity to ECT customers using the deep sea quays, a company statement said.
