U-FREIGHT has bolstered its operations in Hong Kong with the opening of a third logistics warehouse.
The Yuen Long facility is located close to the border with mainland China. It will be operated by wholly-owned subsidiary, U-Freight Logistics, which was established in 2002 to provide full-scale fully-customised logistics solutions and total supply chain management facilities, a company statement said.
The primary function of the warehouse is to provide cross-docking logistics services, temperature-controlled storage and distribution facilities. In addition, the warehouse serves as a container freight station for ocean freight handling and processing.
With two cargo lifts and enough racking for the storage of 1,000 pallets over two floors, the facility can maintain ambient temperatures between 22 and 24 degrees Celsius and relative humidity between 45 and 70 per cent.
The new facility also has a state-of-the-art Electrostatic Discharge Protection (ESD) repacking room for the electronics industry. Some customers require repacking services under ESD conditions to maintain the quality of the components during the repacking process.
The new facility also meets the needs of customers involved in the manufacture, purchase and retail of garments and accessories. The warehouse is fitted with automated hanging garment rails, as well as carton conveyors and high-bay racking with appropriate order sorting and stock control systems.
Additional fashion logistics services offered by U-Freight from the new facility include sorting, storage, preparing of orders for dispatch, kimballing, labelling and delivery worldwide. In addition, U-Freight will be providing direct services from the vendor to the retail outlet.
