Ningbo-Zhoushan port box volume up 37pc from Jan to July

NINGBO-ZHOUSHAN port handled 5.21 million TEU from January to July, an increase of 37.28 per cent year on year, according to statistics from the Ningbo Communications Bureau, Xinhua reports.

Ningbo-Zhoushan cargo volume rose 14.1 per cent during the reporting period to 197 million tons, including 92.34 million tons of foreign trade cargo, up 9.8 per cent over the same period a year ago.

In July, container traffic grew 29.57 per cent over the same month in July to 782,000 TEU.

The strong performance comes after four new container services began calling at Ningbo port during the first seven months of the year. By the end of July, there were 185 container services calling at Ningbo port, including 97 ocean-going services, 19 feeder services and 24 domestic lines.
