VANCE Bioenergy, a Malaysian bio-diesel company, said it was able to build its new plant faster than expected because of efficient logistics provided by TNT, which air freighted key components from Europe.
"We found in TNT seamless logistics dovetailed perfectly with our approach," said Vance Bioenergy managing director Long Tian Ching. "As a result, we were able to reduce our construction time."
Built on an eight-acre site in Pasir Gudang, the US$78 million plant will produce 100,000 tonnes of biodiesel a year.
TNT handled the airfreight of more than 17,000 crucial parts with a total weight of 40 tonnes from Europe Malaysia. Using TNT's Air Freight2 and Economy Express3 services, the components were flown from suppliers in Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom, Finland and Spain, consolidated and then shipped to Malaysia.
TNT managed the delivery from pickup to point of assembly, assisting with obtaining pre-customs clearance and approvals, which reduced the time by 50 per cent.
Said TNT Malaysian managing director Gerry Power: "Our partnership with Vance Bioenergy is a clear demonstration of the extent of our commitment to customers in delivering customised shipping solutions."
