CUSTOMS checkpoints in Northeast China's Heilongjiang province handled 7.59 million tons of cargo from January to August this year, an increase of 17.7 per cent year on year, Xinhua reported.
Imports handled by the customs checkpoints increased 18 per cent to 6.6 million tons, while exports rose 29 per cent to 983,000 tons, the report said.
In August alone, the cargo volume of the customs checkpoints grew 29 per cent to a new monthly record of 978,000 tons, the report said.
The five largest customs checkpoints in Heilongjiang in terms of cargo volume are Suifenhe, Tongjiang, Heihe, Dongning and Luobei and their combined cargo volume in August accounted for 95.5 per cent of the province's total, the report said.
