COMPANIES adopting the river-highway intermodal transport service to handle cargo between Chengdu and Shanghai can expect 10 to 20 per cent reduction in costs, Logistics Week reported.
More manufacturers in Chengdu are expected to choose river highway intermodal transport to handle import and export cargo via Shanghai with the improvement of the Yangtze River waterways and the development of Luzhou port, which is the nearest one to Chengdu.
Delivering a TEU from Shanghai to Chengdu costs much more by truck than by rail, and it costs even less by water, said the report.
