Sailor stays on board

A VIETNAMESE sailor, Phan Jhanh Tung, has been barred from setting foot in Shanghai after assaulting a Jinshan Port immigration policeman.

The sailor did not have a landing certificate but demanded to be allowed off the Panamanian vessel he worked on. When Liu, the policeman, stopped him from leaving the vessel, the sailor became angry and attacked him viciously. The ship's owners have paid for the policeman's medical bills and the sailor will not be allowed to disembark in the city.
