THE NEW Jiuquan Customs post in Gansu province started operation recently, affecting import and export companies in three Gansu cities including Jiuquan, Jiayuguan and Zhangyeshi, Xinhua reported.
With the new customs office, handling customs procedures for imports and exports will be more convenient and easier for companies in the three cities, said the vice governor of Gansu province, Lu Wucheng.
The establishment of the Jiuquan Customs will help to boost foreign trade development in Gansu and make Jiuquan an important hub from China to Central Asia in the future, Xinhua said.
Foreign trade in Gansu has developed rapidly. Statistics show import and export values in Gansu reached US$4 billion in the first three quarters of the year, up 63.3 per cent, the report said.
