MONTHLY throughput at Malaysia's Labuan Liberty Port in the first half of this year reached its high mark in April at 2,416 TEU, reported Bernama, Malaysia's national news agency.
Labuan Liberty Port Management (LLPM) chairman Yussof Mohammad said the port expected stronger growth this year with the anticipation of Malaysian GDP growth of six to seven per cent.
"With the strengthening of exports and resilient domestic demand anticipated for 2007, we are optimistic LLPM will turn in another year of favourable growth," said Mr Mohammad in a statement.
Given the positive projection in global trade, Mr Mohammad said it was imperative that Labuan Liberty Port keep up with changing trading patterns and routing as well as increasing demands of the industry.
