Bryan Beaver, owner and operator of Carter Energy, a trucking company based in Overland Park, Kan., told FOX 4 the Magellan fire is a "logistics nightmare."

According to Beaver, because of the fire, you could pull up to your favorite gas station in the next couple of days and be out of luck for a few hours.

Beaver said there are two problems:

1) The disruption in product could cause prices to go up. He said that will be made clear Wednesday evening at 6 p.m. when prices change.

2) The Magellan terminal hub supplies approximately 20 percent of the gasoline for the entire Kansas City market, which puts many gas stations at risk.

Beaver also clarified the barrels versus gallons confusion at the Magellan facility:

Capacity tank: 58,000 barrel
Occupied at time of lightning strike: 28,000 barrels
Forty-two gallons per barrel
1.7 million gallons of gasoline burned

The two other metro trucking companies like Carter Energy include Groendyke and Star Transport. There are five terminal hubs in the metro:

1) Magellen in Kansas City, Kan.
2) Magellen in Olathe
3) BP in Sugar Creek
4) Sinclair on Kansas Ave
5) Conoco in Fairfax

The gasoline is refined in Texas and Oklahoma and then sent through the Megellan pipeline to the hub in Kansas City, Kan. The refiners own the gasoline, not Magellen .
