DuPont said Thursday it is working with India Post, the Asian nation's state-run postal service), to develop customized products for shipping and posting consumer and business packages.
Specifically, the company is working with India Post to create protective envelopes for its Speed Post and Insured Post services -- the first such offerings in India.
The envelopes, made of DuPont's Tyvek brand protective material, are intended to provide security and protection for their contents. Tyvek is resistant to water, tears and abrasion, but has smooth textures for printability, lightweight and customized tamper-evident features.
Tyvek envelopes are used by shipping companies and postal authorities, including the U.S. Postal Service and French La Post.
We expect this to enhance growth for our Speed Post business, which currently deals with (10.7 million) consignments per month and grew by about 30 percent last year, John Samuel, general manager of business development, India Post, said in a statement.
