DB Schenker is further expanding its presence in the United Arab Emirates. In its latest move, DB Schenker in Dubai founded a joint venture with the owners of BAX Global LLC, which will start doing business as Schenker LLC as of September 1, 2008.
The new company in Dubai consists of a team of over 100 experienced employees and benefits from numerous existing customer relationships. As a member of DB Schenker’s worldwide network, Schenker LLC offers customers the entire range of logistical services. The current expansion of the harbor facilities coupled with the benefits of Dubai Logistics City and the international airport are driving the creation of one of the world’s biggest logistical hubs in Dubai.
We are now also able to offer our customers high quality end-to-end solutions from a single source in this important market, said Dr. Thomas C. Lieb, who as Chairman of the Management Board of Schenker AG is also responsible for the company’s global air and ocean freight activities.
Since June 2007 DB Schenker has been linking together the markets in Asia, Europe and the USA with its regularly scheduled airfreight services from Dubai to Toledo, Ohio, via Frankfurt/Hahn. The offer was designed to meet the special requirements of the electronics, automotive, machinery, and apparel industries. In addition, Schenker AG has set up its own Regional Head Office in Dubai that will manage and further expand the company’s activities in the Near and Middle East, as well as in Eastern Africa.
