Jiangsu province will develop three port clusters along its 1,000 kilometre coastline north of Shanghai, Xinhua reported.
The three port clusters include the Northern Port Cluster consisting of Lianyungang, Guanhe River Mouth and Zhongshan; the Middle Port Cluster comprising of Dafeng and Sheyang and the Southern Port Cluster covering Nantong, Lvsi and Yangkou.
Lianyungang will be the centre of the Northern Port Cluster while Dafeng and Nantong will be the leading ports in the middle and southern port clusters, the report said.
The Ministry of Communications (MOC) is establishing an international shipping centre with Shanghai as its base, and Zhejiang and Jiangsu ports playing supporting roles. This plan is a good opportunity for Jiangsu to develop its port facilities, the report added.
