It is learned from the Infrastructure Construction Department of the Ministry of Communications that a notice on pilot work for seaport terminal renovations has been issued for coastal areas. The notice further clarifies test requirements, renovation control procedures and the 17 berths affected etc, with emphasis to be placed particularly on gravity terminals, high-pile terminals and sheet-pile terminals at Qinhuangdao, Tianjin, Ningbo, Guangzhou and Zhanjiang port.
According to MOC, the renovation control procedure must include terminal inspection, renovation design, feasibility studies, application for approval, re-assessment of the new design, competition and acceptance of the project. The procedure must be executed strictly to ensure absolute project safety.
All pilot work will be finished by end of this year.
At 227 metres in total length and equipped with 7,200 car positions, “Quixote”, currently the largest Ro/Ro ship in the world, took berth at Lianyungang port on August 23, laden with 210 “Yutong” passenger buses bound for Saudi Arabia.
This is the largest single shipment of passenger buses ever exported in Chinese coastal areas.
