Naval units for Neptune Warrior exercise off Scotland
The second of two Neptune Warrior exercises off the West coast of Scotland are due to begin on Monday 17 September 2007.
In the lead up the event the Clyde plays host to most of the ships that take part, a collection of units from the UK, United States, France, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, New Zealand, Canada, Netherlands, Spain and Norway.
Amongst them this year is the USS COLE, the US warship that was attacked by terrorists on October 12 2000 in Aden Harbour.
Other US fighting vessls taking part are USS JOHN L. HALL (FFG 32), USS NICHOLAS (FFG 47), USS ELROD (FFG 55)
The Royal Navy's forces include minehunters and four submarines as well as the Type 23 frigates HMS LANCASTER, HMS WESTMINSTER and HMS MONTROSE.
Other vessels arriving today were the French FS LATOUCHE-TREVILLE (D646), Denmark's HDMS ABSALON (L16) and the USNS LARAMIE.
The exercise runs until the 28th September
