QINGDAO port's container volume has surpassed the seven million TEU mark two months earlier than last year.
Throughput hit 7 million TEU by September 30, while the port had to wait until November 27 last year before reaching the same level.
Cargo throughput of Qingdao port also exceeded 200 million tons by September 30, which means Qingdao took 50 fewer days to achieve the same volume in 2007.
Qingdao expects to achieve an annual cargo throughput of 260 million tons and container volume of more than nine million TEU, said Qingdao Port Group president Chang Chuande.
