RICKMERS Group recently named a 4,250-TEU vessel, the Laranna Rickmers in Dalian, that will operate under the name CMA CGM Purple according to the terms of an eight-year charter.
The ship will be employed in the French shipping line's PEX1 liner service between China and South Korea and the US east coast via Panama, Rickmers said in a statement.
With a length of 244.5 metres, the ship is the 11th vessel from a series of 21 ordered from Dalian by Rickmers Group in recent years.
Delivered on September 28, the Laranna Rickmers was transferred to Rickmers Maritime in Singapore and will be managed by Rickmers Shipmanagement, a subsidiary of the Rickmers Group. As the CMA CGM Purple, the ship started loading cargo in Dalian immediately and sailed on September 29.
Including ships in operation and vessels under construction, the Rickmers fleet now comprises close to 130 vessels.
