ICTSI makes a string of senior appointments

GLOBAL port operator with a flagship facility based in Manila, International Container Terminal Services Inc. (ICTSI) has appointed three senior executives for its Georgia subsidiary, Batumi International Container Terminal LLC (BICTL), and the corporate group.

Ton Bestenbreur was named the new chief executive officer of BICTL. An industry veteran with 30 years of experience in ports and container management, Mr Bestenbreur was previously the general manager for ICTSI's South African Port Operations and Fresh Produce Terminals from 2001 to 2006.

Mr Bestenbreur started his career as project leader in Reactor Centrum Nederland in Amsterdam and was later transferred to Ultra Centrifuge Nederland as managing director. By 1981 he became the vice president for Operations in Europe Container Terminus. Before joining the Manila company, he had been general manager for Portnet and managing director for ECT Trieste-SPA from 1998 to 2001.

A Dutchman and fluent in four languages, Mr Bestenbreur graduated with a bachelor's degree in aeronautical engineering and holds a master's in mechanical engineering from the Technological Institute of Haarlem and Technological University of Eindhoven, Netherlands.

Earlier this week, ICTSI announced the appointments of Rommel Samson as financial planning and management manager and Arnie Tablante as finance assistant manager for ICTSI's corporate group.

Before joining ICTSI, Mr Samson was the financial controller at Syngenta Philippines from 2005 to 2007. He has also filled financial roles at Pharmacia and Pfizer. Mr Samson graduated with a degree in accounting from the University of the East in 1995 and is a certified public accountant, a group statement said.ICTSI's third newly appointed senior executive, Mr Tablante previously worked for Stratexport Philippines as general manager and managing consultant from 2000. He holds a degree in industrial management engineering from De La Salle University, and a master's degree in business management, majoring in finance, from the Asian Institute of Management, a company release added.
