NINGBO customs has handled cargo with an aggregate value of US$100.6 billion, up 28.7 per cent by the end of November, according to statistics.
This is the first time that Ningbo's trade value surpassed $100 billion year on year. Ningbo has become the seventh city in China after Shanghai, Shenzhen, Nanjing, Guangzhou, Qingdao and Tianjin whose trade value exceeds $100 billion.
Import value increased 16.9 per cent to $39.5 billion while export value rose 37.6 per cent to $61.1 billion, generating a trade surplus of $21.7 billion.
Xinhua News Agency said cargo from outside Ningbo has taken up more than 50 per cent of the city's total trade cargo volume. By mid-November, Ningbo's container throughput had exceeded 8 million TEU.
