THE Hong Kong Association of Freight Forwarding and Logistics Limited (HAFFA) has re-elected Walther Nahr as its new chairman.
Mr Nahr was previously chairman of HAFFA from 1988 to 1990 and from 1992 to 1996. He is currently the corporate vice president of AGI Logistics (Hong Kong) Limited.
"I am honoured to have been elected chairman of HAFFA for 2008/2009, and to have the opportunity to again serving our industry," said Mr Nahr.
He outlined the major issues facing the logistics industry in Hong Kong that he will focus on during his tenure: "The pressure of inflation, the continuing rise in fuel costs, and the economic slow-down in the US, represent just some of the elements which affect the industry today. However, while working together to overcome these issues, we must also look ahead to the future of the industry here in Hong Kong."
The HAFFA 2008/2009 executive committee was also elected at the association's annual general meeting held at the end of last month.
The principal officers of the newly-elected HAFFA committee are Peter Wong of Expeditors Hong Kong Limited as vice chairman; Louis Lee of Wangfoong Transportation Limited as vice chairman; Cliff Sullivan of A-Sonic Air Freight (HK) Limited as honorary secretary; and Kelly King of BALtrans Logistics (Hong Kong) as honorary treasurer.
Established in 1966, HAFFA is responsible for setting industry standards, as well as providing educational courses for freight forwarders and logistics services providers.
