No melamine has been detected in exports of dairy products or food with dairy components since China made stricter quality control on dairy exports, declared a spokesperson of the Ministry of Commerce on Oct. 10.

The spokesperson said that tests have been conducted on every batch of dairy and dairy products for exports since Sept. 10 and on every batch of food export with dairy ingredients since Sept. 20.

From Sept. 10 to Oct. 6, more than 3,000 tons of dairy in more than 130 batches for exports to 21 countries and regions were tested and no melamine was found. Chinese dairy products exported since Sept.10 and food with dairy ingredients exported since Sept. 20 are safe for foreign consumers.

The spokesperson urges the compliance with Sanitary and Phytosanitary Agreement under the WTO when restrictive measures are imposed by any country on dairy imports from China. No discriminative measures should be taken against dairy products from China. Normal trade should not be hindered, said the spokesperson.
