General Information

The Port of  Ozamiz is one of the fastest growing port in the country, with an annual cargo volume of about 570,000 metric ton.  About 2.5 million passengers use the port annually, making it one of the busiest ports in terms of passenger traffic in the country.  At present, the port handles a monthly average of 1,500 TEUs of full containers and 400 TEUs of empties.

The strength of the port lies in its geographical location which lies in the center of four provinces and five cities with about 2.65 million population.  It is the outlet of agriculture, aquaculture/marine and forest products from Misamis Occidental, Lanao del Sur, Lanao del Norte, Zamboanga del Norte and part of Zamboanga del Sur.  As such, it is considered as a service center and a hub of trade and commerce this side of Northern Mindanao.

There are two main categories of vessel operation in the Port of Ozamiz, the interisland vessel operation which carries cargoes and passengers to and from the other trading ports and the Bay and River operation which also carries break bulk cargoes, Roro cargoes (motor vehicles) and passengers.

It is the only base port which caters to both motor launches and motor barges ferry operation which calls the port every hour from 5:00 AM to 9:00 PM.  Because of this ferry operation, the port is always busy during the day and considered as a very important sector in the development of the City of Ozamiz.
