There is a 2.8 has. Container yard t Slip ??and Marine Slipway Yard has an extensive container yard of 9.8 hectares.
Depth Alongside The present maximum depth of the water alongside the piers is about 5.5 m. below MLW.
Draft Using the tide, the largest fully laden ship that could safely berth at North Harbor would have a draft of 6.0 m. The vessels which have deeper drafts fall into two categories:

Larger container vessels calling at piers 4, 12, and 16

Trampers usually carrying logs which call at Pier 6 and 8. The arrival of such vessels is sometimes scheduled for the high tide or larger ships carrying logs lighten part of their cargo before berthing.
Fenders / Mooring The quay of each pier has a set of fenders and mooring fixtures.  Pier 2 to 16 are  equipped with rubber fendering system.  The cleats installed in between the bollards were provided for small ships.  Mooring ropes are hooked normally at one side of a cleat.

The rehabilitation of North Harbor made possible the replacement of timber piles by rubber dock fender system from Sweden and reinforced by huge used tires.
