The Port of Aqaba lies on latitude 29-31 North, longitude 35-01 East. It is situated in southern Jordan at the northern tip of the Gulf of Aqaba.

The Port of Aqaba radio station operates 24 hours a day, transmits weather forecasts twice a day, and provides telephone and telegraph with Communications cover the Gulf of Aqaba, East Africa, the Indian Ocean, the Arabian Sea, the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean, GMDSS communication equipment coverage A1, A2 services to ships.

PORT APPROACHES:

The approaches of the Port are deep with no navigational obstructions, even close to the shore.

ANCHORAGE

Anchorage's 1-7 Depths of 20-90 meters distance 0.8 nm from the shore, mainly used for cargo transferred to lighters.
Anchorage's 8-11: mainly used for ships waiting to berth.

BERTHING

Vessels must be made fast with adequate mooring lines.
During berthing Main engines must not be immobilized without the prior consent of the Harbour Master.
Berthing alongside is not allowed for vessels carrying IMO 1.1 class explosives, ammonium nitrate, radioactive materials or potassium chloride.
Berthing alongside is not allowed during darkness time for tankers and vessels carrying dangerous goods.
