Anderson takes over as Delta chief executive

Delta Air Lines today announced the appointment of Richard Anderson as the carrier's chief executive officer from September 1, succeeding retiring CEO Gerald Grinstein.

Anderson brings a unique depth of experience to the position, having served in top jobs for several major US corporations, including executive vice-president of United Health Group; chief executive officer of Northwest Airlines; staff vice-president and deputy general counsel at Continental Airlines; and most recently as a member of Delta’s board of directors.
