CHINA's eastern city of Suzhou has started co-operation with Shanghai's Pudong Airport customs and Wuxi's airport customs to offer one-stop clearance for international express cargo, which need to be transshipped via these two airports, Xinhua reports.
A customs clearance facility for express cargo has been built in Suzhou and recently started operations. Local shippers and freight forwarders now only need to go through clearance procedures at the new facility instead of clearing the airport customs in Shanghai or Wuxi again.
The report said half of Pudong Airport's transshipments come from Suzhou. Among the top 10 companies that transship the most international express cargo via the airport, four are Suzhou-based, the report added.
