COMPETITORS from around the world demonstrated their skills in fork lifting and pallet building at the International Forklift and Pallet Building Competition at Hong Kong airport's SuperTerminal 1.
Organised by Hactl (Hongkong Air Cargo Terminals Ltd) and the Airport Authority Hong Kong, the competition involved Air China, British Airways, Japan Airlines and KLM Royal Dutch Airlines which sent teams to participate.
Local Hactl and Multi Express teams also competed for the championship in the event, in which Japan Airlines won the pallet building event, while KLM won the forklift safety award. Hactl was top in the forklift operation category as well as overall champion.
"This industry competition helps foster a safety culture of both the employers and employees," said Pang Kwok-lam, chief occupational safety officer of the Hong Kong Labour Department.
