Phividec Industrial Authority (PIA) formally turned over the Mindanao Container Terminal (MCT) to Mindanao International Container Terminal Services Inc. (MICTSI) last week. The turnover ceremony was held at the MCT berthside and was attended by Phividec officers, shipping lines and local government officials. At the background is a marker commemorating MICTSI’s start of operation. The marker was earlier unveiled by Emmanuel de Ocampo (far left), PIA chairman, and Edgardo Abesamis, MICTSI chairman. MICTSI was granted the 25 year MCT concession in May, and took over operations in June. The MCT is International Container Terminal Services, Inc.’s (ICTSI) sixth operated terminal in the Philippines. MICTSI is a subsidiary of ICTSI, a leading developer of international ports and terminals with a global port network spanning 11 countries in four continents. Headquartered in the Philippines, ICTSI is on its 20th year of operation, and continues to pursue container terminal opportunities around the world.
