CHINA Railway Signaling and Communications (CRSC) has awarded Bombardier a Euros 66 million contract to install, test and commission the European Rail Traffic Management System (ERTMS) Level 2 equipment on the Wuhan-Guangzhou line. Bombardier will install its Interflo 450 system on the 1000km route by January 2010, when a fleet of 60 specially-equipped trains will begin operating with ERTMS Level 2. The contract involves a 15-year cooperation agreement between Bombardier and CRSC.
Development of the system will take place at Bombardier sites in Sweden and Thailand, with a technology transfer to allow production of the final units in China. Product design will be carried out in Sweden and China.
