WORK on Qinghai-Tibet Railway Naqu Logistics Centre in Tibet has begun, Xinhua reported.
The 5.33-square kilometre logistics centre beside the Naqu Railway Station, will be the largest cargo transit base in Tibet when completed in 15 months, the report said.
The CNY1.5 billion (US$199.62 million) logistics centre will develop a bulk cargo logistics zone, an integrated logistics zone and a product processing zone, providing cargo processing, storage, trading and distribution services for containers, cold storage, heavy bulk and general cargo deliveries by rail, the report said.
The logistics centre is expected to handle 600,000 tons of cargo this year, 2.23 million tons in 2015 and 3.1 million tons in 2020, the report added.
