Global express and logistics company, DHL, has unveiled plans to establish its US$175 million DHL Express North Asia Hub at the Shanghai Pudong International Airport.

The new centre, scheduled for completion in the second half of 2010, is intended to link north China to the north Asian region, as well as provide connections to Europe and the US.

To be sited at an airside location adjacent to the upcoming Runway 3 in the West Cargo Handling Area of Shanghai’s Pudong Airport, the 55,000-square metre facility, built on 88,000 square metres, will be equipped with a quality control centre that will also act as a crisis management headquarters.

The Shanghai facility will bring the group’s total investment over the past few years in Asia Pacific to US$2.2 billion.
