During the summer holidays, Czech Airlines carried 1.2 million passengers.  Compared to the same period last year, that constitutes a 3.4 percent increase.  Czech Airlines noted the greatest increase in the number of passengers on its charter flights, which carried 275,200 passengers, which is 8.5 percent more clients than last summer.

In July, the total number of passengers carried grew by 4.3 percent, to 596,000, and in August by 2.6 percent, to 605,000.  In the two holiday months, Czech Airlines operated a total of 7,840 flights, which constitutes a year-on-year increase of 5.7 percent.

On scheduled flights, the number of passengers carried in July and August increased by 2.03 percent, to 925,400.  Among the most popular scheduled routes this summer were London, Paris, Amsterdam, New York, and Madrid.  Whereas the summer months in scheduled carriage are characterised by a greater number of tourists travelling on vacation and minimal demand among business clients, this trend reverses in the autumn months.

On its charter flights, Czech Airlines carried 275,200 passengers in July and August, which constitutes a year-on-year increase of 8.5 percent.  Overall, Czech Airlines operated over 950 charter flights during the holiday months.  Aside from departures from Prague, Brno, Ostrava, Karlovy Vary, and Pardubice, in high season, Czech Airlines charter aircraft also fly from Dublin and Cork in Ireland, for example.  Tour operators are most interested in flights to Greece, Egypt, Spain, Tunisia, Cyprus, Turkey, Italy, and Bulgaria.

The most sought-after charter destinations in July and August:

• Greece – Crete, Rhodes, Ionian Islands

• Egypt – Hurghada, Sharm El Sheikh, Taba

• Spain – Mallorca, Ibiza, Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia

• Tunisia – Monastir, Djerba

• Cyprus – Larnaca

• Turkey – Antalya, Bodrum

• Italy – Sardinia, Olbia, Cagliari

• Bulgaria – Burgas, Varna

• Montenegro – Podgorica
