Miami International year's cargo airport, Cathay best Pacific freight carrier

MIAMI International Airport (MIA) was named Cargo Airport of the Year by Air Cargo News, having been chosen from among the world's 10 fastest growing airports handling more than 500,000 tons a year, and for having the best investment and cargo strategy.

And Hong Kong's Cathay Pacific Airways was named the Best Asia Pacific Cargo Airline from a poll of 19,000 voters from the airfreight industry.

MIA handled 1.78 million tons of international freight in 2007 ranking first in the US and ninth in the world. MIA is also the only U.S. airport among the world's top 10 in international freight.

Other winners included Cargolux, Best All-Cargo Airline; American Airlines, Best North American Cargo Airline; LAN Cargo - Best Latin American Cargo Airline; SwissWorldCargo, Best European Cargo Airline and DHL Global Forwarding was named Best New Freight Forwarder of the Year.
