The international industry prize Trailer Innovation will be awarded for the fourth time at the IAA Commercial Vehicles. It promotes outstanding ideas and new product developments in trailers and bodies. The prize is awarded by a total of eleven renowned European transport journals, led by the KFZ-Anzeiger. The German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA) is the cooperation partner. This year again the independent jury is awarding prizes in five categories: Concept (overall concept for trailers, semi-trailers and bodies), Chassis, Body, Components and Safety.
Most of the trailer and body manufacturers are SMEs and they markedly pushed up their turnover in 2007 by 23 per cent, to 12 billion euro. They have a great deal of innovative drive, which is to be demonstrated to the public more clearly than before. By awarding the prize Trailer Innovation, the media and publishing company Stünings Medien GmbH is plugging the long-standing gap amongst the numerous prizes associated with commercial vehicles, thus giving the drive for innovation in the trailer and body industry the recognition it deserves. The great response this year to the call for entries for the prize again confirms that the trailer and body industry possesses a wealth of know-how and innovations.
The award of the Trailer Innovation prize is, however, more than this: the KFZ-Anzeiger is throwing down a challenge to come up with technical developments and innovations, and also new ideas and new brands bringing with them both technical and economic advantages for the manufacturers - but even more so for the operators, i.e. the customers. The competition is also intended to promote exchange of know-how within the trailer industry and not least to actively encourage the next generation.
The Trailer Innovation 2009 presentation will take place on Friday, 26 September 2008, from 14.00 to 15.00 h, in Room 1B at the Convention Center on the Hanover Exhibition Grounds.
The world's most important trade fair for mobility - the 62nd IAA Commercial Vehicles in Hanover - is organized by the VDA and is setting new records for the number of exhibitors, the number of countries represented and the amount of exhibition space occupied. The number of exhibitors is around 2,000, which is 25 per cent more than in the record year 2006, while the 275,000 sq m of exhibition space is 10 per cent more than two years ago. This impressively reinforces the IAA's worldwide leading position among trade fairs showcasing mobility. This year again, the commercial vehicle fair is the ideal platform for exhibitors and professional visitors to initiate business and conclude contracts.
